Meet The Founders

All founders are undergraduate students studying at the Questrom School of Business. After becoming close friends freshman year, we discovered our mutual desire to create something bigger than ourselves. After careful planning and discussion, we formed Biz Buzz, a podcast run by students with the aim to discuss and inform the public about business current events. Below is a small biography for each member to learn more about their personal life.

Abigal Gilroy

Abi is a sophomore studying marketing and business analytics.  Originally from Alaska, Abi moved to Costa Rica at a young age, which inspired her to pursue a global education at Questrom School of Business. She has traveled to 10 countries, enjoys learning about her friends’ cultures, and cooking vegetarian dishes. She is most eager to use the Biz Buzz platform to discuss important social issues relating to women in business.

Alejandra Hoenigsberg

Alejandra is originally from Colombia but was raised in South Florida. In her free time, she enjoys painting, traveling, animals, socializing, and learning new languages which is why she is fluent in Spanish, English, and proficient in French. Along with Biz Buzz, Alejandra also works in social media marketing for BU Questrom Business School. Though her concentration is undecided, Alejandra plans to major in Business Administration and take multiple classes in International Relations to gain a more global perspective of the world.

Jacob Godshall

Jake is originally from West Chester, Pennsylvania, a suburb town outside Philadelphia. His hobbies include skateboarding, playing/watching all sports, snowboarding, watching/rating movies, collecting shoes, and drawing. Along with Biz Buzz, Jake is also the Vice President of the BU snowboard racing team, competing in slalom and freestyle events. He works as a pool cleaner and a mover during the summer, and as a valet in Boston during the school year. Jake is hoping to expand and broaden his point of view on business topics, and learn new from real-life experiences brought to the podcast by guest speakers.

Matthew D'Alessandro

Matt is a sophomore concentrating in global business and strategy, who is passionate about political geography and the logistics of a fully globalized marketplace. In addition to Biz Buzz, Matt’s heavily involved in BU’s Men’s Club Volleyball Team and serves as its Social Media Director. Through this podcast, Matt hopes to explore global business supply chain and logistical issues and their respective geopolitical dilemma(s) with professionals who know just that.

Sophie Velychko

Sophie is originally from Ukraine but has spent the last ten years living in New York City. She is on the BU gymnastics team and enjoys hiking and snowboarding in her free time. She is a marketing major at the Questrom school of business and is excited to have the opportunity to interview professors and students about various aspects of business.

Tiffney Chen

Tiffney is originally from Virginia Beach, Virginia. She is in the Questrom School of Business studying Marketing with a minor in Psychology. She is an active member of the BU Fashion & Retail and the BU Guerrilla Marketing Society. She grew up speaking Fujianese with a receptive multilingualism in Mandarin. In her free time, she is a beach-loving, concert-going, rom-com enthusiast (books or movies). With Biz Buzz, she can’t wait to explore more in the world of business and expand into a career of luxury marketing.
